Section Leaders!!
A change in Trustee regulations will mean that Section Leaders who currently hold Trustee Status, will,
from their next AGM, have to opt in, if they wish to retain that
responsibility.
Rationale below:
A recent consultation with the Movement looked at
options for reducing the number of people with trustee
responsibilities at Group level. It showed us
that members
supported the idea that Section Leaders should no
longer
automatically be members of Group Executive
Committees.
The General Purposes sub-Committee (GPC) - one of
the bodies tasked to carry out the work of the
Board of
The Scout Association - was then asked to
consider the
options available. Specifically, it addressed
concerns that
this might lead to sections not 'having a voice'
on their
Executive Committee. The sub-Committee was also
aware
that it needed to make sure that whatever
approach was
developed provided flexibility for adults who
take on
volunteer roles in Scouting.

As stated in Berkshire News, "All adults involved in Scouting
need to have completed the appropriate form and CRB check. This
includes members of Group and District Executives. As a starting
point, check whether your Chair, Secretary and Treasurer have
records for their roles. These appointments are processed in the
same way to all other appointments"
