ADULTS IN
SCOUTING
Scouting is not just
for youngsters, but it needs adults to provide enthusiastic guidance,
leadership and skills to encourage and help young people.
Not all leaders are
in uniform. If you have specific skills and are prepared to give some of
your valuable time to help teach these, or help to support the
youngsters, then let us know. Maybe your interest is in administration,
plenty of Groups need help for example; collecting subscriptions,
managing badge progression or keeping records.
Ex-Scouters can
share their valuable skills in teaching or supporting new leaders.
Supporters to help
with fund-raising for camps, equipment and running costs are always
welcomed.
All adults can
themselves participate in training. Everyone is expected to do "Getting
Started" which informs about the Fundamentals, Structures, Support and
Guidance of the Association, as well as Child Protection, Equal
Opportunities & Safety Procedures.
In addition, there
is information about the features of the Sections, the Adult role &
Programme ideas.
Section Leaders
and Assistant Leaders are expected to continue their training to
complete the award of a Wood Badge.
This entitles the
leader to recognition as "Trained" by the presentation of a certificate
& "Wood Beads." They are also entitled to wear the 1st. Gilwell Park
Training Group neckerchief.

Gilwell
